If Delta Executor opens with an upgrade prompt, or a game suddenly kicks you out with Error 280, the cause is almost always the same. These look like two different problems, but they are two messages for one underlying issue: your Delta build no longer matches the Roblox client it was released for.
The Two Messages, Side by Side
Delta’s own message is the “Roblox Upgrade” prompt. Delta detects that the installed Roblox app has moved ahead of the build Delta was made for, and asks you to upgrade before it can work.
Roblox’s message is Error 280 (connection dropped). This is Roblox’s own wording for a disconnect that, in a Delta context, usually comes down to the same version mismatch. A heavy script can trigger it too, which is why the first fix step is always to test without scripts.
Why It Happens
Delta only works when its build matches the Roblox build it was released for. Roblox updates its client often, and the moment it does, the Roblox app on your phone is newer than what your Delta build supports. Delta then stops working until a matching Delta build ships. That is why the error appears overnight even though you changed nothing on your phone.
Our Delta Executor version history page explains this build-match rule in plain words and shows whether a newer Delta build already exists. Check it before you do anything else.
The Fix, In Order
- Check for a newer Delta build. Open the Delta Executor version history page. If a newer build exists than the one you have, that is your fix.
- Update Roblox itself. Install the latest Roblox from the Play Store. An old Roblox client can cause the same error.
- Uninstall Delta completely. For this error, install fresh rather than over the old copy.
- Install the latest APK and get a fresh key. Download from the Delta Executor download page, then generate a new key with the Delta Executor key guide. Keys are valid for 24 hours.
- Test without scripts first. Join a game with no scripts loaded. If the error is gone, a heavy script was the trigger, not the version.
If the upgrade prompt is still there after all of this, there is no matching Delta build yet. Then the only fix is to wait. New Delta builds land quickly after a Roblox update, and the version history page is updated as soon as they do.
What NOT To Do
- Do not edit Delta’s version or build numbers to fake a match. It does not work and only breaks things further.
- Do not download “fixed” builds from random sites. Fake fixed builds are a classic route to malware. The only file to trust is the self-hosted APK here, exactly 167.6 MB and SHA-256 checked.
- Do not keep reinstalling the same old APK and expect a different result. The build either matches the current Roblox client or it does not.
When It Is Not a Version Mismatch
- A heavy script. If Error 280 appears only in one game or with one particular script loaded, that script is the suspect. Run the game without it and the error should stop.
- An expired key. A key that expired mid-session can look like a connection problem. Re-enter a fresh key.
- A different error entirely. If Delta refuses to start at all, or scripts fail to inject, work through the Delta Executor not working fixes for every error we cover.
